Eye Tracking with Tobii
Tobii has a robust user manual that is simple and walks you through all the steps of project/timeline creation, recording data, and data analysis. It can be found when you first launch Tobii Pro Lab under "Help and Learn" > "User Manual"
Along with this, brief tutorials can be followed with these guides
Setting up an Eye Tracking Experiment
-
Once Tobii is launched, select "Create new Project" and "Screen" as the Project type
-
Name the project and select "Create"
-
Note: You only have to create the project timeline once! Once it is created, you can record multiple participants within one project.
-
-
In the top menu bar, select "Design" and use the tools at the top to add various elements into the timeline of what you want your participants to view/watch
-
Areas of Interest (AOIs) can be created on specific photos to aid in data analysis
-
Once completed, select "Record"
-
Drag the Tobii software to the HP monitor on the left (next to the iMac). This is where you will control the experiment. The monitor on the left should be mirroring the monitor that is in the lab room (If not, check the troubleshooting page)
-
At the bottom of the screen, make sure presentation screen 1 is selected
-
Select "Start Recording" and continue to the calibration before beginning the timeline and ending the recording
Eye Tracking Analysis
-
Once all participants have been recorded, select the "Analyze" tab at the top of the page
-
Data can be exported for analysis; however, for our purposes, all basic analysis can be done in Tobii
-
Data can be visualized via Heat Maps or Gaze Plots as seen below
